Default specs on 97 JDM ITR, where to find?

I'm potentially importing a 97 4-door ITR and the shop here in Utah that will be making it DOT and EPA approved asked me to find out what speed the bumpers are crash tested to. He said US compliance is 5mph, and most other countries are the same, but some are 2.5mph.

Does anyone know where I can find information about making Japanese vehicles compliant with US standards? The guy I'm working with said the doors need to be reinforced, and the glass might need to be replaced, and it needs to have SRS. Also are there any US emissions components that don't exist on JDM cars (evap, pcv, etc...)?

If it's too much of a PITA i might have them dismantle it, then bring it in to the states in pieces, then I'll put it all back together.

I'd take this route.
It is definately not USDM friendly!

Yeah, I may have to. Here are pics of the car in question:

These 3 were taken before the car was shipped here.

These were taken today after it was unloaded from the boat here in Miami.

Thanks, yeah... looks a little corroded. Not a huge deal to me though. So no one knows where I can find the general specs and maybe safety specs for a JDM ITR?

asking price for the vehicle is $8250, but they are open to consider lower offers around that price.

i haven't paid for it yet, because I still need to figure out how i can get it through customs, and then get it registered here in my state. i think making it 100% legit (basically doing to it what MotoRex does to skylines) would be very cost prohibitive, and not worth my time or money. however, if i can find a slightly shady way to do it, i would probably do it, and purchase the car.

i'm faced with two obstacles:

1) getting it through customs and into the us
2) getting it registered here in Utah

i'm open to ideas. the only one i have right now is to either remove the drivetrain and import it separately, then import the rest of the car as "parts only", then pray that the Utah DMV lets me register it without customs documentation. if it adds too much to the cost to dismantle it and bring it here, then i'd probably try getting a temporary Utah tag for it using the title from my wrecked 2000 ITR that I purchased. fly to florida, pick the car up, drive it back here with the temporary tag, and then cross my fingers that the Utah DMV will let me register it and trade in the Japanese title.

whatever the case, if I can get it here, even if the DMV won't let me register it because I don't have the necessary customs documentation, then I would probably attempt to register it as a 2000 USDM ITR, which I have a salvage title for.

that would be my last option, and I know it's really shady and potentially risky, but IMO it would be worth the risk to own this beautiful car for only $8250.

i'm open to your opinions.

can't be the same car. this one just came off a boat from Japan today. it's not allowed onto US soil. it's in an International Trading Zone in Florida waiting for sale and export, unless I figure some way to keep it here.

4x113.4 to be exact, not the standard USDM civic/integra 4x100.

Your other alternative might be finding a USDM frame and swap everything over. That way no DMV worries!

haha, i'll bet you would. i think i'm actually going to have the drivetrain pulled and shipped to me, then export the car to nassau, and bring it back into the states as parts only. i'm hoping it comes out under $10k for everything.

You should talk to the guy selling the CTR in class, he seems to know how to register in imported car
