JDM Front End Conversion question
For any of you guys that have gone through the trouble of doing the conversion, how did you make the hood latch work...or any ideas on how to keep the hood closed without hoodpins would be very helpful...
Well many people who buy the conversion end up getting the jdm latch bolted onto the radiator support, so all those people would have to do is find a way to make up for the extra couple inches of length needed in the hood latch cable. For that you can go buy yourself a hood latch cable off i think an older civic and put it on... but what we did on my roomates car was cut off the a piece of the jdm cable that was left hangin from the latch and use wat looks like a mini exhuast clamp thing to tie the two cables together and used that. Just gotta make sure it real tight.... and we've had no problems what so ever.
thanks for the help with that idea, that is pretty much what I was thinking...my JDM hood latch got lost somewhere in the shipping process, and never made it to me here....I already found a longer cable, but I was trying to find out if there might be another way to do it, so I don't have to wait so long to get that here....I might end up doing hood pins on my VIS Carbon Fiber hood though
What you can do is just flip your old latch upside down and reverse it. works just as well. I used this method b/c my jdm hoodlatch was lost and i used a g2 integra cable
like i said, 2nd gen integra meaning 90-93 tegs. use that cable and use your current hood latch. just flip it upside down and flip it from left to right. and 50 bucks? thats a rip off, I got mine for like 10
The hoodlatch and cable from the 93 Integra work perfect with the JDM ITR conversion. You an find those in a salvage yard for about $50.
