Default Installing JDM 4-1

First of all, if I get the JDM 4-1 headers, gasket and 2.5" flange, will everything fit?
I know I have to have the flange welded on, but if I have a muffler shop weld it on, would I have them do it before I install the headers or what?
And is installing the headers as easy as team-integra.net makes it seem?
TIA

Installing the header is pretty easy, just be sure to use some penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench on the bolts. I broke a header stud once, not fun. Not fun at all.

Yeah it's easy.. if the muffler shop is close, just put the header on before you go.. it will be a lot easier/faster for them to finish.

ur gonna need a cat to fit the 2.5 inch collector (in) then to bolt up to ur exhaust(out). i hope u have both gaskets (donut gasket and cat/exh gasket).
might as well get a new exh mani gasket too.
it will be a tight fit. i went thru the bottom to put it it. remove the plastic shield under the radiator and AC bracket under the radiator too.
i would recommend a skid plate for that header to protect it from damages too.

So the header just wouldnt be put on all the way in the bottom?

Yeah, just leave it running from the header.. you can't bolt it up anyways because it needs that flange, but your stock cat will still line up. It'll be loud though.. that's why I was saying I hope your muffler shop is close. Good Luck.

you need a new cat. the JDM 4-1 is a different length than a stock GSR's. Who are you buying from?

I'm getting it from inlinefour.com along with the gasket and flange. They said that it will fit if I get the gasket and flange

This is a quote I got from Dave at SMSP: But if you have a '95 GSR, then you'll need an OBD1 cat, which should be about the same price.

JDM donut is $15
3 bolt gasket is $4
hardware $5

2-1/2" 94066 OBDII kit is $185 and includes all the above.

Most muffler shops should have the flange. Its just a flange with 4 3/4" bolt spacing for 2.5 inch pipe.

nfn15037 is right, just take it to a muffler shop.. you don't have to worry about it too much.

Slightly O/T will the stock factory manifold gasket work with a DC JDM 4-1 (the gasket is brand new the header is not)?

Am I gonna need anything special when I install the header?
Lube or anything?
Edit: Does anyone have a pic of what open header looks like?

That kinda doesn't look like the jdm 4-1 header. You will have to get a carsound cat that already has the welds or you can go to the muffler shop cuzz it will NOT fit with your stock cat.

Well I just installed the header, but its open header right now since the muffler shops are closed.

I took it for a test drive, and holy crap, that thing is damn loud. It is so distinct at 4400 RPM, and I couldnt even hear the secondaries at 5600.

I had my friend drop me off and then smash with me outside the car, and its even louder when youre on the outside. Neighbors got out of their houses when he drove by.

Anyways, the stock cat doesnt look like it will fit once I have the 2.5" flange welded on. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Hopefully the muffler shop will be open tomorrow since it's pretty much undriveable right now...
