h22 crx swap
I was looking into, possibly taking the B16 out of my car in favor of an H22.
Anybody know anything about this swap?? I don't really care about all the handeling flaws and all that, I just want the torque of an H22.
Please let me know if anybody know alot about this swap??
also, anybody know what parts are needed?? what tranny, harness, stuff like that??

i beg to differ, placeracing now has the mounts for $368, they also make the axles, wire harness, and shift mount kit that you will need for the swap, this is now becoming more popular and easier to do

if you dont know these guys, you shoulnt own a CRX. If you are serious, they will answer your questions.
And I am not sure if it is all that bad to put a H22 in a CRX. Everybody say's it a pain, but I think its mostly echoing what somebody said. Ask somebody(l'natural) who did it...
And all that torque is not going to pay off on street tires/set-up, all that torque is gonna get lost in wheel spin. At least make sure you get an LSD tranny with the engine. But that is just my opinion(I could be wrong).

there is a reason why they are not more common. without ever working on or seeing one in person, i can tell you that all the research i have seen points to B series motors. if straight line speed is your goal, just build a nitrous motor. some pistons, rings, and port work would do. tune it with a fuel pump, injectors, and a vafc should get you running well. i would say that a 100 shot would last you for at least a summer untuned. tuned with the nitrous to an upper 13 to 1 A/F ratio should have you making quite a bit of power.
not my desired method of going fast, but it works.

The only person that I know can do these swaps is my boy that works at this shop in md. I have seen him work on several h22's into 88-91 ef's. he currently doing a 90 hatchback.
my buddy has a h22 in his 90 hatch, he started the project about 3 years ago and got it running but never finished it due to traveling for his job. he bolted the 99 prelude complete front suspension up to his car. he also has a accelle dfi computer running the show. way cool but ALOT of work since when he was doing the swap nobody had any information about doing this and they all thought it was impossible and that he wasnt serious. i forgot to mention that he works as a metal fabricator and made the crossmember and mounts. other than that everything else bolted up with or mostly without any modifications. he did have to remove the radiator support and use a short radiator out of a 92-up civic. it does seem front end heavy while driving but the prelude front suspension helped alot.
it can be done but it is a really really tight fight, I've seen a few and it makes u wonder how much patients some people really do have

Has the Place Racing bolt in H series kit for $425.

why not go a few steps more and boost that h22. The power to weight ratio in the straight would kick ***. Anyways the hardest part about the swap is getting stuff to fit because of the tight fit. Its hard enough getting a b20 to fit a crx. But hey I say its worth it. But remeber to do all your research and pricing before you start. You might be better off getting a gsr or doing b20/vtec. Also remeber expect to pay a few hundred more that the estimated price. The small and the little things that go wrong are pricey.

I hear that the h22 swap is a bad idea unless you r planning to build it up for the 1/4. The handeling is pretty poor but thats just from what i have heard, never riddin in one myself
