if not what do you use and what weight compared to stock manual honda rack and steering colum ? where also ? Jegs ? Summit ? Other ?
also price ?
thanks,
Greg
also price ?
thanks,
Greg
i think tony is right about that. if you want to save some weight you might want to look into getting a rear sub frame made. i know climax tried to make one about 3 years back but i don't know if they are even still around. if you could make something like that i think it would pass the rules and might shave some weight.
yeup sure isnt beforegetting the predator front suspension was thinking about going with the area 51 unit very nice by the way. just not legal

thanks for the responses, Tony I didn't see the regulation you mentioned, I check P 71 Section 9 3.3: Steering. Thats why I figured it could be used. So everyone is just using the lightest CX/VX racks is that how it works ?

I don't remember exactly where it is, but i'm pretty sure i've read it somewhere. I'll look at the rulebook today and let you know.
The climax and area 51 tubular crossmember are not legal in NHRA, we already checked
I think you'd actually want to use like an Omni GLH rack. The Pinto, I beleive steers from in front of the wheel rather then in back like the hondas. The Omni GLH is from in back, so it may be easier to perform that swap--I see no reason why it would be hard to do... I was researching this for the rally car to get better steering response and ratio on the 88 Civic.

I think they outlawed it, but haven't put it into the rules, if that's possible *shrug*. I think they were worried about people relocating suspension points with one of those. It would be too easy to do. Anyways, just going by what we were told.
edit: talking about the crossmember here...
Contact Jim Skelley to find out for sure.
