hey guys, my d16z6 seems to start but after a few seconds it sputters and then dies. the exhaust spews out white smoke and smells like pure gas. its a stock motor and all i did before i turned the car on was take out the ecu and plug it back in. help!!!!

Well if all you did was take out the ecu then double check to make sure it is plugged back in all the way. I had a similar problem with my first build, it would pop and sputter but would'nt start. It came down to all that was wrong is that I had the firing order backwards. HTH

smoke comes out white (smells like gas) , also i put a paper towel in front of the exhaust while it was on, it comes out soaked with gas..... not drenched but moist. ive changed the plugs and wires, the o2 sensor seems ok, but smells like gas (probably explains the cel) . any suggestions anyone? ive also checked the fuses and seem all ok. why is my car running so rich??? i get 7 mpg highway, local is worse, i used a full tank of gas for 63 miles. how do i reset the ecu?

 

bah, im getting tired now, i have reset my ecu again, and let it idle for 9 minutes until it died off, then i drove for 30 min and now it seems to smoke only when i drive from a stand still. any suggestions? do you think a busted head gasket would me me run super rich? other wise pep boys here i come.
