Went to the 1/4 Track...
Boy was I surprised on the number of Hondas/Acuras that were there. I think they accounted for half of the cars that were competing.
Although I did not take my RSX, I went, as a photographer, with a friend who wanted to see what kind of #s his Mustang was getting.
May I remind you that this was my first time at the track and I was very glad I went since it opened up my eyes.
First off, the small civics were pulling 12s along the side of cars of the caliber of Vipers, Corvettes, and Mustangs. I mean, this cars looked like crap to me, but once the green light went off, the real beast would be unleashed
And I kind of have a little respect toward the WRXs, but seeing how only 1 out of 100 cars was a WRX who only raced once showed up, I think that this car is obvioulsy not a 1/4 car. I hear it can accelerate fast but then pay the price (transmision, clutch, etc.)
A couple of guys who had a dispute between them decided to come to the track and settle their dissagreement. The only problem was that this 1/4mi track was only for cars that pulled above 9s or 10s (can't remember exactly), but these guy showed up with cars that were in the low 5s. Needless to say that they were expelled from the track after an awesome performance. Both cars were Novas, a 76 and a earlier model. One of them pulled a wheelie
Overall, I learned that no matter how much money you invest on your car, there is always faster than you (in the street-legal sence) (I knew this, but going to the track reiterated my POVs). This re-enforces my decision to NOT dump money into my car to just to smote the guy next to me. It's just not me. But at the same time I can see how this can become a very entertaining and costly hobby.
