DIY polished lip (rims)

DIY polished lip (rims)
I really want a polished lip on the rotas I may buy off of a friend. HIs are painted flat black and I was wondering if it is possible to sand down to a bare metal and polish from there. Any ideas or suggestions you guys/gals may have could prove dear to the process and undertaking. Thanx in advance!!

aircraft paint stripper
lots of sanding(w/various grits of sandpaper)
then some mothers polish
i'm polishin my Hx rims right now. it's alot of work if you do it by hand.

can be done in three simple steps
park your car with wheels of choice next to curb....park even closer to curb......proceed to pull forward
