Default ... loose shifter box...

... my winter beater's (87 civic) shifter box is really loose... for example if you are in any gear, still moves around freely to the point that it can still touch the front seats... anyone have any suggestions?... i was told that it is probably a linkage problem and that a short shifter kit would help... any thoughts?... if so, anyone know of a short shifter kit for an 87 civic?... i have seen some on ebay for 88 and up, but none for an 87... lemme know... thanks...

you don't need a short throw shifter just tighten up your shift linkage. trust me that should fix the problem

check the shifter bushing or the universal joint at the transmission.
The swivel joint at the end of the shifter rod always wears out..
