Installing an Si tranny????????
Hey guys I was just wondering, if I am going to install an Si tranny into my STD hatch, will I need different Hubs?? If so would it be possible to swap parts of the axles so that I could use my hubs? Thanks guys for the help and sorry if this is a dumb question.
...shouldn't have any issues with this tranny swap...however if you get/have a 88 tranny to swap in you will need 88 axles. 88's had/have different spline count but other than that it should be plug and play
The difference in the 88 and 89-91 tranny is not the axles but rather the input shaft. The 88 had a 21 spline input shaft and 89+ has a 20 spline. Your axles will work fine. Granted the HF and STD do have smaller hubs. However there is no difference on the inner joints.
Thanks for the help guys, and mine is an 89 btw. I was just making sure that I wouldn't have a problem when I installed my new motor/tranny next weekend.
.....I recently changed trannies and was using an 88 tranny, yada, yada and stepped up to a 90 and could not use the 88 axles. both trannies Si so....
...regardless should be plug and play
