How long do the H1 light bulbs in the Hella HID kits last for?
How much is it usually to purchase replacement bumbs for these?

philips & osram/sylvania 4300K bulbs will last for 3000 hours

other companies with their cheap 6000K and whatever else bulbs dont last as long. terrible quality and terrible color.

bulbs cost around $150 usually..

 

HID bulbs do not utilize a filament and because of this they last 6-7 times the life (4000 burning hours) of a conventional halogen bulb. Analogous, bending a small piece of metal back and forth is essentially what is occurring to a filament each time the lights are turned on and off. Constant expansion and contraction of the filament will eventually cause it to fall off. This is a major disadvantage to employing halogen bulbs in any vehicle. Filaments in Conventional halogen bulbs are furthermore prone to breaking off due to constant vibrations created within an engine bay, which reverberate into the headlamp housing. Thus, offroad and industrial applications are ideal for HID lighting.

 

some often say that it may last more than the life of the car...

we'll see about that. so far, i've gone 2 years without a problem.
