1st gen b16a cams
They will get you by, but they are the suckiest vtec cams available
1st gen b16a Water pump.
1st gen b16a oil pump.
1st gen b16a Timing belt.
Get brand new '94 GSR parts.

If you are looking for a decent setup for cheap, then get the 1g b16 and put a 55 or 65 shot of ZEX on it.

Im currently beginning my LSvtec build up. My setup is going to be B18b with GSR pistons, shot peened LS rods, ARP rod bolts, stock crank w/ GSR oil pump and GSR water pump. GSR head w/ P&P from Endyn with Skunk Mani and CTR cams. Im not building it for gobs of power i just want decent compression and peace of mind of a strong motor thats gonna last a long time.

Im looking for a B18b block right now and ive already got the built head and almost everything else.

Things aside from the cams, oil pump, and B16A or B16B rods would be fine. No point in using those rods seeing how you would destroke the motor. I don't think the B16B rods would fit proper either. As far as cams just spend the few hundred extra and get a set of R cams at least. You cannot use the B16 timing belt because it is too short. If using a VTEC water pump you must use the GSR/Type-R timing belt, if using the LS water pump use the LS/B20 timing belt. Hope that helps man. Now you say you are a broke college student. I regret to inform you that this setup isn't going to be cheap if you want it to last. Fast, cheap, reliable. Choose two. Lates.

if all your spending is 2K.. I'm not sure how reliable it will be. 1,200 for a 1st gen B16?? 700 for a B18 block?? I have a complete B18 for that much!! You should be able to buy a bare B18 block for around $400. If just the B16 and B18 block is going to already cost you $1,900.. your in trouble if you want to keep this project under 2K.

if you only want to spend 2g on your motor that aint gonna happen with a $1200 b16 and $700 for ls block. damn that alot of money for a ls and b16 head.
