Heres the deal, im trying to decide whether or not to spend the money on a five lug conversion. I really like the fact that it gives you better braking and one extra lug. I dont want to do it just because it is "JDM" i would like to do it for the added perfomance, im thinking about doing auto-x and some track time so i think that it would be a worthy investment. Tell me what you guys think about it. Do the conversion or dont do the conversion.
Here is what the car looks like now.
so you guys decide Five lug conversion or not.
Thanks.

If you don't already have rear discs and want bigger brakes all around then do the conversion. you get new wheels (which is always good) and you get 4 wheel discs with bigger rotors up front than your stock rotors. but like I said, only spend the money if you haven't already done a rear disc conversion. If you have, then just get a fastbrakes upgrade or something like that and use the rest of the money for engine work.
I think it's pointless and a waste of money IMO.

Kevin, just out of curiousity, whats your reasoning to say they're pointless?

Typically, your AVG 5lug is approximately $1500. For that price, you get wheels, maybe almost brand new Bridgestones RE910's. And you will also get HUGER brakes that will make you stop unbelievably better than your puny discs/drums.

i would do it. not for it being JDMish but for the fact that you get bigger rotors and a better braking setup.

I guess if its function of fashion, than fine, but most do it for fashion over function, and I think there is better stuff you can do with $1500. Just my opinion though.
That is why i want to do it, function over fashion, although i have to say that it looks good too!

i think you should get a set of 99-00 si rear disc brakes and spend the rest on getting a new bumber that doesnt have a painted grill and/or a motor if you dont already have one.

ive been thinking about what to also and i have chose 5 lug.
yea for 1500 you can get better brake or handling upgrades or looks but you can have all 3. But when you buy 5 lug it gives you everything in one package. You get better brakes at ALL 4 corners with oem quality. You also get newer bushings which can make a difference too. Then you get great shocks and springs stock and even if you dont like them then you can sell them and put the money toward the brand of your choice. Then if you like the stock itr rims you are really in luck cuz thats one less thing you have to buy.
For me when i buy it i can sell my stock gsr rims and my xtra set of si rims and pretty much pay for the suspension part. Then i will be able to sell my stock gsr brakes to a person with a civic or whatever. So i can pretty much pay for the 5 lug coversion with just my stock parts.
I have my mind made up and i hope this helps you make yours up too

I think you're a fashion ***** who doesn't fully understand the benefits of bigger brakes...tool!

Do you need a b series engine in order to do the 5 lug swap ? The reason i ask is because of the axle bolt ? Its a different diameter isnt it ? so would i need b series axles ? Or can I keep a d-series engine and have five lug ?

You could get a fastbrakes setup and have better brakes than the stock ITR for less money than the 5-lug conversion. The guy up to already has 16" wheels so he wouldn't really need the ITR wheels unless he really wanted them for looks.
