i honestly dont know the answer to this
Most tracks require them when you use aftermarket wheels with slicks. My bogarts are a lot thicker than stock wheels. I'll bet most drag wheels are so stock studs won't cut it.
I had to get extended wheel studs to mount Bogarts on my Civic. The reason is this: the wheels have spacers to get the right offset and to still clear the calipers. With the original studs, only the portion of the lugnut that extended into the wheel actually engaged the threads of the stud. The beefier hex part of the lugnut did not have any threads in it. The danger in this is that the lugnuts could shear off at the end of the stud and your wheel(s) could fall off. That would be a bad thing, I am guessing.
nhra rules also say that the studs have to pass thru the end of the lug nut to pass tech.
