they have to have metal valve stems and you have to have extended studs as well.

I'm sure if you are a regular Joe, they won't really mind. But if you bring out an all out full drag race car, they will enforce it

most of the time you can get around it with stock wheels.

Yah, that's my advice.. tech in your stock wheels, then put your slicks on...

But please be safe and do the mods needed, the metal valve stems should be with the slicks no matter what!!!! and the studs, well get it done soon it's not tooo expensive and you can do it yourself, so only do what I said above once or twice I wouldn't recommend it... and actually you don't even need extended studs with lenso rims, they will stick out of your lug nut and y ou'll be fine.. But they make the rules for safety reasons... Going 130 and then having a slick fall off would be disasterous!!! Hope this helps.

Why metal valve stems? I hate to sound ignorant (but I am), but what is wrong with rubber valve stems?

it really depends on where you race too. Its always good to run extended studs and metal valve stems though.

Well, most of the time when tech does your inspection and you are somebody driving a street car up there you will not get checked... however it could happen and then you would be screwed. But like I said... If you want to get away with out running extended studs just get the Lenso Drag Wheels and they don't require them. They will bolt right up without spacers and that in turn lets them get the extra thread. I've heard it 2 ways. 1 tech said that your stud has to thread into the nut 1 diameter of the nut itself. The other tech said that it has to come out of the nut 1 diameter of the nut itself... I don't know I've never had a problem but you may have a different situation. Think of it this way... If you would feel comfortable with your mother with you doing 130 with them like that (in other words your safe), then go ahead and try it... if not then don't do it... (well maybe this rule wouldn't apply to all people but still it's a good way to think of things...)

thats not toally true, you only need the extended wheel studs if it looks like the offset is off and the nuts arent fully threading , i have passed every race for the alst 2 yrs with slicks on street wheels.
now with bogarts adn **** youll need the ext nuts and studs.

Here is what I find:

5:1...snip...Metal, screw-in valve stems mandatory in
tubeless tires, front and rear, on cars running 11.99 or quicker....snip....

5:2...snip...All wheel studs must project into the hex portion of the lug nut by a distance equal to one diameter of the stud...snip...

Nothing about extended studs being required, they're only required if you can't get enought threads into the lug nut.

Hope that helps,
Austin
