Default T3/60-1 turbo specs for 450 whp?

You guys on this board know your stuff about turbos so i decided to post here instead of on my board. I am looking to make about 450 whp on my 1.8 overbored to a 2.0 Miata running a T3/60-1. What spec T3/60-1 would be suited for 450whp and what kind of spool up am i looking at?

Thanks.

stage 5 turbine wheel. .63 a/r housing will probably work fine since its a 2.0. go down to a .48 if you dont like the spool.

if you can get the TO4S of the 4 inch intel .70a/r comp.. that thing is good up to 450whp.. with the same specs as

MATT3T4 of the classified forced induction is selling one brand new for $695 shipped. if you have enough space as for fitment this would be a nice set up

hmmm, I just hate kicking myself in the ***** for future upgrades, haha.
I was pretty sure most of the hgh hp cars were running stage 5, what are some of the best examples you have for the stage 3 arguement? I am always willing to listen.

the turbo that comes off the drag turbo for the H22 is rated at 450hp. It is a T3/T04B .63 Super V stage 3

450whp is easily obtainable on the stage 3 wheel with a 2.0 block. I am running a 60-1 t3 with .63a/r on my 2.0 block, with the stage 3 wheel. I am looking at 400whp on 14lbs, and 500+whp on 22lbs (race gas). You should see full boost around 4500-5000rpm depending on what kind of psi level you are pushing. The 60-1 t3 .63a.r with the stage 3 wheel is rated up to 600hp level. I think that the stage 5 wheel is overkill, but that is my opinion.

alright boosted hybrid same set up (2.0ltr) with a straight t4 60-1, when would full boost hit? and how is the t3 60-1 with a .82 a/r turbin side smaller than the t4 60-1 with the .70 ar turbine side? I mean they both have the same compressor side. Ok I'm comparing these two

Boost will usually hit another 1000rpm later, but it is also going to depend on what t4 exhaust housing you have. If we are speaking of the .70 a/r t4 housing you probably can expect full boost around 6000rpm, and it will pull probably till 9,500rpm. I personally think that the t4's are overkill for anything on the street. You can support enough horsepower with the t3 exhaust housings that you never have to touch the t4 housings. The .82a/r will probably make full boost around 5500rpm, and pull till over 9,000 easily. I was going with the .82a/r housing, but i want a more streetable powerband so the .63a/r is staying.

I just don't understand how the .82 ar exaust side on the t3 can be smaller than the .70 ar exaust side of the t4. wouldn't the .82 ar hot side be considered then to be a t4 turbine?

so what kind of differences am i looking at, in terms of spool and power, from a .48 a/r to a .63? A stage 5 wheel is way over my goals. I have seen one making power deep in the 500 whp range...

It might not be that the .82 housing on the T3 is bigger than the .70 on the T4, but the turbine wheels are certainly different.

T3 stage three: Exducer dia(2.229"), Major dia(2.559")
T4 P trim: Exducer dia(2.544"), Major dia(2.922")
http://www.turboneticsinc.com/catalog/twheel.html

just from the numbers, that's a significant difference spinning at 100,000RPM
I think that's more what they mean about any T4 is bigger than any T3, sort of.

Simple T3's are smaller than T4. A/R has nothing to do with the actual blades just the size of the housing.

we have made over 500 on a 60-1 with an 80 shot on an escort motor. its the same as yours but a 1.8. I have a 62-1 with a stage 5 wheel for sale if you are interested. that will get you 450 no problem. email me if you want some pics of the turbo. Mike@motormatrix.com
