Default Exhaust leaking on fuel tank....

It was -30*F here today, so when i started up my car i noticed very little exhaust coming out of the muffler, and a crap load of exhaust coming from the mid-section of the car. so i look under and i see that the exhaust leak is right by the fuel tank. i also noticed a black softball sized area of where the exhaust was hittin the tank. I was wondering if this was a potential danger, and if ill be ok if i drive it for a couple months like that? i was thinkin it could maybe burn a whole in the tank but im not sure how thick it really is. Thanks.
