jdm civic mirrors maybe even integ mirrors...help needed
I am trying to seperate the housing so I can prep it for paint myself. shouldn;t be too hard but I don;t want to break anything. has anyone seperated the housing? and if so how did you do that? any help is appreciated.
here is a diagram of a interga mirror which is the same as far as I can see to the jdm civic mirror
here are some pics of one of the mirrors

I understand that but the mirror is in the way. I just don;t want to break it and be out the money for em.
whoever painted it before just painted it with no prep. so even if I tape it off really good there will be red paint underneath. thats not gonna look too good with a vsm paint job. I am kinda a perfectionist and want it done right. thats why I am gonna do it the hard way.
I am converting over from manul to power, but I can still move the mirror to as far forward as it goes. still can;t get to that screw

I did the same thing, popped mine apart for painting. First you have to pop the mirror lens out, be careful not to brake it. 2nd undo all of the screws you find under it, also unscrew all of the screws on the exterior of the mirror. Then there are clips (3 or 4) I tihnk that hold the mirror together. Start from the outer corner and work your way in to where the "folding crease" is. Thats all there is too it.

how much did you pull before the mirror lense pops out?
yeah, turn the mirror all the way to one side, then pull on it, not only on the corners, but try to apply force to most of the mirror, so you don't break it. just pops out.
Yup, just what they said. It was easy to pop the glass out of my JDM mirrors, but when I tried to pop my usdm mirrors I broke the glass
