99 D16 from an EX fit in a CRX??
Will a 99 EX motor drop right into a crx? i don't really know and i was just wondering what would need to be done..also could i keep ac and PS and ****?
TTT please help me out...will it bolt right in? without mounts or whatever using the complete swap from a 99 ex? tranny and all...and keep ac and ps and ****?
There are a few things to consider with this swap. First the 99 will have a hydro tranny. This is not easily installed since our cars use cable trannies. Can it be done? Yes. Will it be easy? No. Secondly the 99 is OBD2. Our cars are OBD0. Your best bet would be to convert to OBD1. Do a search on this there is more than enough info out there. Thirdly you will have to retain the driver side mount from your current engine. The 92+ have slightly different mounts than the 88-91.

OK LOOK...i dont' wanna hear USE THE SEARCH button like you guys tell everyone else..i read all that bullshit..i went to the hasport site i read everything i can and i just don't get why i can't swap in a complete swap from a 99 ex and why everyone puts 4g **** onto new motors and all this switchin manifolds and **** is neccesary...why can't i use my stock tranny? I have a COMPLETE 99 ex...why can't i just use that ECU, that tranny, that complete under hood and swap it into a crx? will it work or what? why's everyone usin vtec controllers n ****? i don't wanna beef it up i just wrecked my ex i just wanna swap it in and leave it stock..no injectors no nothin...will it work just to throw it under the damn hood
thanks for that info but why wont' the tranny just go right in? i'm kinda swap dumb....draw me a picture haha..jk...and why do i need to swap over to obd anything? what on the crx would be left if i used EVERYTHING from the ex...i mean...why would i need to worry about it USED to be obd0???
Ok here you go i just did that swap. you can use the motor just take your mount off the current engine in your 4thgen you can also use the ex manifold as long as it is a 5 speed engine if its automatic you will have problems. Use the tranny from the 4th gen it will bolt up you cant use the ex tranny because it is a hydralic tranny and you can only use a cable tranny in the 4th gen it is a big pain in the @ss to convert over to hydrolic. And use a P28 ecu and rewire the car for obd1 to wire it Obd2 is worthless or you can buy a zdyne 1 wire conversion to keep it obd0.
any other questions? Also use your original distributor if ur keeping obd0 if not use what ever distributor for what ever for what ever year harness you use.

Oh yea i forgot the ac can be reused as long as the crx had ac to begin with. And no you can't use the power steering you would have to change the whole steering rack to use it.

what ifi don't have a tranny from the 4th gen...eh...this **** sucks...is it easier to swap it into an eg?? can i use my tranny and **** then?
OK... first of all PLEASE use the search, no matter how much you hate it. It will save you pain in th long run. I'vbe personally made 453543 posts on this swap. But basically what everyone else says is correct. get a 4th gen cable tranny (preferably Si). Use the entire D16Y8 engine (if it's a manual version) and wiring harness, and convert to OBD-I. When I converted to OBD-I, I was able to use the Y8 injectors, distributor, etc. The only thing about this swap is that you have to find a D16A6 motor mount bracket for the driver's side mount, grind it down a little, then bolt it on the Y8. It's very easy. The rest of the mounts work, because you will use a 4th gen tranny. HTH
