who here has a B18a in there 90-91 civic/crx?
well since noone's replied yet I'll anwer with my opinions even though i have an 88. he he
Straight Ls is better than stock by alot. but if i had the choice between b16 or Ls i'd go b16. Ls is great for just a cruiser with some umph but if you have the intent of racing it ditch the ls tranny for a b16 and then maybe eventually throw a b16 head on there. i think it's the tranny that makes a huge difference, it'll be loud on the freeway w/ a y1 but it's be much more fun to drive. hope this sheds some light on the topic for ya.

91 Crx is my racee car
88 Hatchback my beater car.
I am currently dropping a Stroked 2.0 b16/gsr t4 turbo in my crx

In my 89, I have a ls, I love my ys1 tranny more than any y1 I have had. As for what you said about going b16 I am going to have to diasgree. B16 lack in the torque department as most hondas do. Nothing bad against b16s but I was never beat by one when I was stock. I ran consistent 14.50s in the 1/4 bone stock in the middle of summer. Not to many b16s I have seen do that espicailly first gens. Oh and my motor has over 120k on it.

JdmRiceMonster, you must of had a really good LS. I have a B16 CRX and have beat CRX/Civic's very easily with LS swaps. I'm not saying that the LS is a bad swap, but when comparing stock vs stock, the B16 will win in the 1/4.
i would go ls. more power off the line, and power where you need it, plus its better to turbo a ls, i think the b16 is overrated, on a b16 all the power is high end where most people dont drive anyways, on a freeway it would be good but i think the ls is better. if your a good driver you will beat b16.
Yes I love my ls, there cheap easy and fun, just like your mom (just kiddin). I am now boosting on my ls and I love it, I will be going to the track in a couple of weeks and I hope to break 12s, well see.
Ok, up until recently I was planning on going B16...and where I live you either drive domestic or get made fun of...so right now I'm getting made fun of...and I want turbo...what times can I expect out of a B18A Turbo: HP to the wheels too...
B18A all the way..... Just try and get a 92/93 if you want the extra 10 ponies..... I've been running a 92 B18A with a 55 shot of zex for about a year now and I love it!
Too many things come into play when calculating hp, espicailly on a turbo car, but if your tuned right you wont be disapointed with a ls turbo.
I've got a '90 LS (stock) for now in my '91 'rex. I'm shipping out for Kuwait in a few weeks so i'm going to build the sh*t out of it and turbocharge it while i'm gone.
