LS tranny with jdm final drive or GSR tranny?
I would only use a hybrid LS tranny on a turbo motor boosting quite a bit and again only one utilizing custom gearing not just a FD.... I would just go with an ITR tranny if you can find one... A 99-2000 Si or GSR is cool too... Peace
Yea I wouldn't recommend that tranny with stock gearing and only the 4.785FD.... You would be a lot better off with an ITR or B16's (99-2000 Si as i said before works well but your revs to stay up a bit more than normal when just cruising on the freeway)... This is how I would compare them... When cruising in 5th on the freeway at ~80mph a B16's tranny will have you at ~4400rpm where as with a GSR you would be closer to ~4000rpm.... There's quite a bit of difference but like I said you would be way better off with either of those trannies... An ITR just has the best of both worlds, B16 shorter gearing 1st and 2nd with a GSR's (which is that little bit longer) for 3rd up... Good Luck... Also my a couple of my friend's run hybrid LS trannies with custom gearing but that's for their daily driven GSR turbo EK's... One is making 355whp on 13lbs. with 9.0 81.25mm JE slugs on stock sleeves with a Portflow head and running Hondata.... The other was (he just sold it about 3 weeks ago) running 22lbs. running a 84.5mm GE sleeved block with the same head and electronics made 506whp... 355whp one ='s a RevHard stage 2C T3/T04E hybrid and the 506whp one was running the same kit with a T4/60-1... Sorry I'm rambling on here about boosted motors but that even an LS with a 4.785FD would probably be too long for those motors... Peace
