Centering Rings/Center Cap for Rota Slips???
I'm going to pick up a set of 16" Rota Slips but have heard something about a centering ring or hubcentric ring or something. Can anyone tell me what they are and if I will need them for my 94 GSR.
Also - any opinions on a centercap - yay? - nay? - rota cap? - honda cap?
Thanks in advance !

I had the same question for my vx-8's because they didn't come with them. They are not 100percent needed. It's one of those things where it really doesn't matter if you have them or not, but your better off if you have them.Example would be like wheel locks. They are not needed, but you are better off with them. Hope this helped. Later.
seriously, why do we have centercaps? they are not needed for the proper funcationality of your vehicle. the only thing i can think of is:
- there need to be access to the axle nut when removing it. the nut is so damn tight, u need to have the car sitting on the ground, loosen, and then remove the wheel. if the cap wasnt there, that means the hole will be part of the rim, and taking off the nut will require taking off the wheel first. u will probably need a massive impact wrench to remove it in this case.
- cosmetic reasons. better than having a hole.
- the center cap is the only part that carries the H emblem. This is what makes it cost a ridiculous 25 bucks a piece at the dealership. the rims however can be made by an aftermarket company by having a contract wtih honda for a specific design of rim. this way, they can sell you the car with honda prices, while they get the rims for cheaper aftermarket prices. no competition, since the 3rd party company can make money off the rims by not selling them with honda center caps. ( summary: honda gets rims. both company are happy. both can still sell their products individually without copyright infringement).

I know what you talking about. The guy selling hubcentric is just trying to make it seem like you NEED this part, cause Rota's NOTORIOUS for uneven fitment. Which is a biased statement. I bought the rings and bought rims, installed the rims, everything was fine. No need for rings. Dont fix it if it aint broke.

the whole point of hubcentric ring is to ensure your wheel is centered.. because inside of rotas and many aftermerket wheels are 73mm, while yours maybe 56.1mm, so your wheel could be off to the side by almost 16.9mm, at higher speeds you'll notice more vibrating and you could place more stress on wheel studs. i noticed a difference while driving, and mine was less than 9mm difference..
