learn to push your current suspension to the maximum, before deciding on going with an aftermarket setup.
Many people say this.. and I used to be one who said, "yah right, can't compare blah blah." Then I finally put up and drove my car with the stock suspension, and learned how to DRIVE the car with it.. and the differences were night and day.
Spend the money for now on a few performance gains... what other mods do you have on your car, etc. Just my .02. BTW, I didn't vote for anything because this wasn't an option.

how do you know I haven't driven my car to its limits??????
I've got a pretty good idea of what she can do and what she can't.... or at least what she can't do while I'm driving.
when the suspension starts to get a little mushy you want to get some new stuff.

Assume you have truly explored the limit of your car, I would recommend a good set of R tires. $500 should be enough for a set.
But if you really have explored the limit of your car, how come you didn't know what it lacks of?

All those factor into what kinda of suspesion you think you should get. IE, do you really think you will need a fully adjustable shock, etc?
If you're not gonna 'race' the car, just buy a set of shocks and use those springs. I think that would satisfy what you are looking for.
As for shocks, the Bilsteins would work fine.
BTW--knew the open poll would get owned by SWED.

what it lacks of????
I'm confused... did I say I didn't know what it lacks of???
right now it lacks of a non-icy road
icy roads own me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I meant I can drive very nicely, but more than likely I'm not the best driver in the world.
no offense taken to anyone.

daily until I get my house and then get a nice cheap daily to turn the R into my non-daily fun.
I'm looking for something right in the middle..... street, drag, maybe an auto x once a year (when it isn't my daily).
I'm just kind of stuck right now in between exhaust and suspension.
Once winter is over then I'll be spending the $400 dollars on my tires, but I don't really include that in the "mods" category... that is kind of like insurance.

tough choice. for myself, I like to go faster. I would probably get rid of those springs you have and either invest a little more(ok, a lot more) into a quality coilover setup to help with handling and lower the stance. OR, get a nice quality exhaust. Hell, you chould even look into get some cams for a little more money, but then you may need to spend more for things like cam gears, and/or valve train components, and then tuning...so it could end up being $$$.
what set up do you have Todd00?
wanna come over friday and do the suspension on the wifes civic???

If it were me doing the suspension on my daily driver R that was not going to see the track, I'd do a set of ground control coilovers and some decent shocks. That's it. And if anything changed in the future (racing), the ground controls could be equipped with stiffer springs and all you'd need to do is get some different shocks.
GC Coilovers give you the luxury of adjusting ride height on the cheap.
my bad...didnt realize it was a daily driver. in that case, get ahold of some H&R sports springs...Thats what I have currently on the stock shocks and it rides just as nice as stock and slightly lower stance. They are only like $200
Try the suspension techniques then, see how they feel. if they dont work...
^^^^ H&R...and they are cheaper than I thought
Ive found the H&R sports for 149 shipped
