for about $1500, i put together a gsr using already existing parts and new/used parts that i found. My b16 just wasn't cutting it anymore in my eg6. i wanted more power, so a friend of mine sold me a b18c1 block for $400. from there jay at OnE in Rialto convinced me to run some ctr pistons. so, i fully balanced and blue printed the bottom end and mounted a clutch master 4 puck and a chromoly flywheel lightened to perfection. the head was given the good old type r intake manifold, and ctr cams. everything else was stock. i ran the same b16 tranny, but little do people know that it came from a 99 si so it has type r gearing. to my surprise and the surprise of all of my friends, the first pass i made in the car was a 14.089. i knew i would hit 13's but i never thought i would hit a 13.7. and, they were consistent times. i ran the times on 14" azenis. i'm going to do better next time!!!! don't think you need NOS or alot of money to go fast, do right the first time and i gurantee that you'll be happy with what you have. im building a setup similar to this on a budget for a friend
-b18c1 block
-b16 head
-b16 hydraulic clutch w/lsd
-skunk2 i/m port matched to a type R t/b
-ctr valve ttrain
-jdm type R pistons
-mugen head gasket
-exedy street/strip clutch
-toda flywheel
The motor builder is fully capable of building this the right way. I think it should be 13 second capable

my friend is almost running that setup..but his is just a full gsr swap with a skunk2 IM, ITR cams, chipped ecu, i/h/e..and stripped interior on some 14' bfg drag radials..ran a 13.72, still stock clutch and stock block
yo do u have a screen name ? on aol or aim? i would like to put u on my buddy list and when i turn 18 we'll have to talk and see how much it will cost me to build me a 13 sec motor froms scratch i'm still thinking of a b16 first gen block with CTR piston & rods, ITR valves ITR cams and maybe Jun cam sprocket or Spoon, and Mugen program ECU with fuel cutter, and anymore advise to help me with this motor ? its going into an EK with couple months so i need some help here............also forgoten i think i'm going with a b16 tranny off a 99si equipt with LSD

thats not a damn budget swap!.... yes it costs you $1500 to build a gs-r motor. but that doesnt include the tranny you had, along with the ecu, axles, shift linkage, etc. congrats on your timeslip, but that isnt a budget setup.

aol screen name is doctrevol8. hey, for me it was a budget!!! of cource it seemed cheaper becuase i had everything, but, if i were to price out all the parts, it would be just as cheap as buying a stock hybrid setup.

hmmmmmm....and exactly how much did the original B16 motor cost ya in the beginning? in this hobby of ours, there's no such thing as a 'budget' swap...there are however 'pricey' mistakes...
I bought a totalled Del Sol VTEC for $1700 and pulled the brakes and motor for my swap, sold what was left and easily made my money back. So pretty much finished with more money and a swap. But then again, that was a pretty lucky circumstance.
i wish i had that luck....
