Default jdm vs usdm

In my experiences, JDM motors have been far from perfect. The two JDM B16A's that I have ever seen are questionable, they both had leak down compression testing done. However we never recieved the results from the testing. Sure they were tested, but they were bad motors. The first one came from ARD Performance, the second came from HMO. In the experiences we've had with the USDM B18B's all of them have been flawless. I know it all depends on who and where you get them from. The USDM motors we recieved were from all private sellers, whereas the JDM motors were from larger retailers. I just want some feedback onto some reputable JDM importers.

are you saying that from personal experience? I've heard negative and positive feedback about that place. I will relate it to the CRVTEC craze, at first it was great, but after awhile research was done, and things weren't as cherry as they seemed.

I believe that it's all luck of the draw... most engines will be fine, but sometimes you get a really worn engine or one with problems.. I'm lucky my was in exellent shape.

some of them get deals for their motors...reason being, they have problems with them that they don't tell the buyers...i.e. leaking oil, missing parts, scarred cylinder walls, blown pistons, bad compression...etc. i'm not saying all engine importers are like that though. your best bet is to go through your local junkyard and see what they have in stock. i know most of the import shops i go to deal directly with junkyards to get their motors from...and they know the motors are legit...all of them come with papers.
