Question about ATS 4.9
Does this final drive add any more torque/power to the wheels over say a 4.7 FD?
Or does it just make it FEEL like there's more power?
What I mean is.. is this a "power adding" type of modification?

NO - but acceleration will improve - through gearing not power output
Or does it just make it FEEL like there's more power?
See above

No it is a gearing modification - duh

No, it does not affect speedo accuracy.
Jared, if you wanna feel what the 4.9 is like, just let me know
...and no, you wont pick up any hp/tq on a dyno...unfortunately.

With a shorter fd you will just go through the rpms faster, no power is added or noticed on the dyno. You will notice the difference blasting out of corners, however.

No, you won't experience any Dyno gains.
No, there is NO speedo accuracy issue.
Yes, the difference With the mod is very noticable.
Yes, I have one.
And Yes, I am a big fan But, that would make me biased.
Come to the Expo and ride in a bunch of R's that have it. Meet Yasu (ATS fame), see the mod there and quite possibly watch it get installed.
Take a look at this sites Archived posts... There are quite a few reviews,,, mostly positive and I think 1 negative? Of course correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess nobody read my damn link?
Must be because I drive a hatchcrap...

You will get more torque at the wheels and this would be measurable on a dynometer like a Dynopack which reads actual wheel torque. However you will not get more wheel horse power because of the reduction in rpm at the wheel (the torque is increased by the same ratio as the rpm reduction so the hp stays constant).
The 4.9 FD is a very good improvement and I recomande it (for what it is worth).

I have the 4.78 FD, I can't imagine this ATS would be that much better than it..
Looks like I'm gonna save though

oh yeah, sorry for never getting back to you on the intake. left for vacation too quickly.
But if you have a Type R tranny already, then you only need the FD right (edit: ring gear too)? And that's like 600$ ??

The ATS parts in the kit are the ring gear (1) and pinion shaft (1).
