Default bad gas smell

Yes I did a search. I got a 4th gen, the problem is sitting still, whether the car be running or not, the car stinks like gas badly. the minute i start moving, the smell goes away....Its not coming from under the hood, its from back where the tank is...I dont have a leak, but i have very little pressure in the tank...also every now and again, i'll get code 43 and 1, Bad fuel system and o2 sensor...the o2 sensor is brand new so this is kinda throwing me through a loop....any ideas??

Gas tank might have a break in the seal somewhere. Remove your back seat and expose the area where the fuel pump is, light a match and toss it on the top of your closed tank, if there is a flame then you have a problem with the seal....jk....take the back seat out and check to see if everything is sealed off properly because the gas smell is coming out of your tank and the fuel pressure is low because air is going into the tank so the tank probably isn't very air tight.

Probably where the pump mounts you have a air leak.

I'll check there...the thing is, according to my Honda service manual, you have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump...is there something I dont know about under the back seat with the 4th gens? Also with that crack in the seal, would that trip the computer to throw the code 43? (Bad or faulty fuel system)

I've never owned an accord before but I work on them all the time. What year is your accord? Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with the generations. On most honda's if you remove the lower portion of your backseat, there is a brass colored metal plate that closes a hole in your gas tank. The fuel pump is in that hole.

Its a 1990, I haven't ripped the backseat out but I never knew there was another way to access the fuel pump besides actually dropping the tank...
