? On carbs with BSeries VTEC
Have a chance to pick up a set of carbs for my gsr from dc4integra. My setup is as follows b16a2 shorty with a jg ported gsr head that has been milled. compression is roughly 11.8 to 1. ctr cams and itr valvetrain. i mainly will be autocrossing the car, and really want them to have something different in my area. have always wanted them and have a chance to do some trading for a set. what all will be needed besides a psi regulator and such? what electronice need to be used?. any input would be appreciated. also this car is not a daily driver, so fuel consumption is no biggie.
probably because nobody here (I think) runs carbs. They might be great for throttle response, but emissions, driveability, cold starts, and reliability will all suffer if you switch to carbs - not to mention that there is no way in hell your car would ever pass an emissions / safety inspection. Now if you car is only a track *****, that's a different story.
If you really want inidividual throttle bodies, go here

and look into a fuel injected setup.
don't let me discourage you though, if you want carbs, get em - there easy as hell to tune
I should know, I got 4 of them on my old *** bike...

I had carbs on my worked AE86 and they were great most of the time. Problems included poor cold performance, heat soak (car would cut out the first time the throttle was pressed) and sharp bumps (power drop out). For a track only car they would be okay but I wouln't consider them for the road.

thanks for the info, the car is a garage queen, it will go out on the weekends for autocross, and the ocassional summer cruise. like i said it is no mean a daily drive. i grew up around tri power corvettes and muscle cars so tuning carbs is no big deal.

Jesus, with as much crap as I went through getting the Scout to run again after it developed carb problems, I can't imagine anyone wanting them

Hmm.
I had a pair of Dellortos on my '74 Ghia. They never gave me any trouble. Most of the adjustment was in the linkage, with a little fine tuning here and there every couple of weeks or so.
I love carbs.

HEY!!! be sure to give us an update post on the intall and everything you had to do to get the unit up and running right... I and I'm sure others would be VERY interested in the process as well as problems that you ran across to get it going.....
thanks!
thanks!
you guys bet, i will post results for sure, it will just be a measly 1.6 with mildly good compression, but it should spin up pretty good with a lightened flywheel and such.
thanks for all the input

Good luck if you choose to do it anyway
Is there some sort of hidden power to be made when using a carb?
I'd guess that you could make even more power with programmed fuel injection. All you have to do is tune the control unit..
