Which do you think is better and why? There are a couple of group buys going on right now and both hoods are going for very reasonable prices... The Fiber Images is about $100 more then the VIS, but this is normal. Do you think this is justified? Are their hoods that much better looking? I know the VIS has rolled edges, but what are the other differences. Thanks for the input!

i'd say VIS never seen anyone complain about them......I knoe fiber image is good but i've heard some complaints on those. I have a VIS and I love thr fitment and the quality

ViS over FI any day for me.

 

There's good and bad stories for both brands. I personally have a FI hood, one of the reasons I bought my hood was to shave a few pounds when I was in the "every ounce counts" state of mind. The FI hood is much lighter than the VIS. There's been a lot of threads comparing the two in the ITR forum.

Ono much about VIS, havent really heard any complaints from other people, but can VIS drop a 17" wheel/tire on their hood and not have it break?

I have a VIS hood for my EK, and really cannot fault it at all. There are absolutly no flaws in the weave, and feels like as ****!

I have VIS hood. They are hella clean and better quality than other hoods but are usually are alot heavier.

I have a FI CF hood and have installed several VIS hoods on friends cars and the FI is is prolly a good 8-10lbs. lighter if not more... To me the VIS hood doesn't feel any lighter than the stock hood... In the long run, I believe the FI holds up better as well, cause i am the second owner of my hood and the clear coat is holding up great... THen some friends have VIS hoods that the CC looks all foggy and stuff... HTH...

Depends on the application. I had a friend weigh his VIS for 94-01 Integras and it came out to 15 lbs compared to my sunny styling 12 lbs.

id take a fiber images over my VIS...ive just seen alot less fitment issues with FI, and my VIS isnt the best fitting hood ever.

 

ive only had experience with fiber images and it fit like poo

my brother owns a supra and he bought a hood from VIS and that **** didnt fit so i always despised their products... i own a '00 civic Si wid a fiberimages hood and i think this is the best hood ever.. i heard VIS is pretty gud but i think F I is top quality.. go to http://www.fiberimages.com and check out the wrecked type R wid the hood on touched wid just a few scratches.. now thats quality

 

VIS does not make cf hoods, they get their hoods from sunny styling
so essentially you are comparing the same hood.

i used to sell carbon fibre hoods so i would know a thing or two about my business
as far as quality goes, the guys with the "VIS" hoods, you try jumping on your hood, see what happens. I've seen 5 types of hoods in person.

1) the cheap Nopi one that's sheet thin.
2) sunny styling's hoods
3) aerohoods' hoods (they compete with sunny styling)
4)"grade A" hoods (acquired from wholehyper.com)
5)FI's hoods

they are listed in order of preference with FI's being the best

I don't think that VIS gets from sunny because why would sunny's hoods look completely different than VIS. The VIS is superior in quality and fit.

 

I think these threads just end up confusing the hell out of the origional poster.

Oh well... I really appreciate everyones input. I've seen both hoods up close, (actually have accounts with both companies - but can't beat some of these crazy group buy prices... ) and I think I'm going to go with a FI hood... VIS is nice, but I've seen problems with their product before (had to ship 2-3 hoods back for fitment/weave problems...) Feel free to keep posting your comments as the moeny hasn't been spent yet! i thought sunny styling made the spoon weave hoods. but how many times have you heard about FI getting heat bubbles like VIS.
