frustrated..........
my car was bogging and it felt weird. my timing is good, i was running MSD wires- distrubitor - blasterss coil. everytime i would start it it would give out a high pitch crank, like it wants to start but wont turn over. i switched my wires and distrubitor back to stock and it still does the same thing. I brought it to a mechanic who worked for honda for the past 13 years and he said i lost compression. he also said that only #3 valve is giving out compression. he said it could be the piston rings, but hes charging me 600 bux. if anyone has come across the same situation pls help..............THANKS
what is year of your car and what motor do you have. What was the last mod yu did before you started having this problem. check your oil if low puts some in and try to start the car. By running the car you can build up the comp again to a good number
The best way to check your rings is to do a wet/dry compression check. Start by removing all your spark plugs. Get a compression tester ($21.00) and check each cylinder, making sure you crank the engine over five revolutions for each cylinder. Record the compressions for each cylinder. This is a dry compression check. Then squirt about a tablespoon's worth of motor oil into each cylinder and repeat the procedure. This is a wet compression check. If the compression readings are higher with the oil that means your rings are bad, if there is no difference then your valves are the problem. Good luck.
