Alright, my distributor is shot... My 2 sensors are burned out on my 93 lude.... It stutters pretty bad sometimes, and sometimes timing is close, and it runs good... Once or twice it was on, and the car felt like a dream... First off, I understand you need to replace the whole unit....A guy has one for sale for a 98' on here... I was trying to make sure that the distributors were the same between the years... One guys said that 2.2 and 2.3 were the same distributor... I understand this is true for the 4th gens.... Does it carry over to the 2.2 5th gens?

its the igniter inside the Dist.... they burn out all the time...

 

If you haven't already seen the prices for the distributor.... Mine went this past fall and I found this guy on eBay that sells them fairly cheap. If you look on your distributor there should be a code on it saying TD61U. All this guy sells is Distributors new with a 1 year warranty. Check it out he has some for your car on there now for $175.

96+ distributors are OBDII and not the same as OBDI ones...they will be missing the CKP sensor....
