Default Help troubleshooting minor problems - blinkers, ac, cosmetic body work.....

Ok guys,

I bought a '91 si and there are a couple of things that are bothering me:

1. The left turn signal blinks really quickly - the right one does not. No broken/ burned out bulbs.....

I suspect either the wrong size fuse somewhere or wrong bulb somewhere?

2. The A/C doesn't work all the time. I knew it was like that when I got it... It seems to work well when I get it to come on... The AC light comes on, but sometimes (no rhyme or reason that I can figure out) it doesn't blow out cold air... I guess maybe there's a short somewhere? Doesn't make sense.

3. The front bumper is pushed in on one side. Not much, but noticeable. It looks like someone prolly backed into it. No alignment problems, but I want it to look clean. How much would this cost to fix? I'm guessing $100.00 for a shop to pull whatever got bent in back out...

Thanks guys!

1. I'd guess you have a short in your electrical system somewhere, or a burned fuse

2. Probably need to get your A/C recharged

3. I'd guess about $100, too. But you'll have to paint it again, and that could cost more...

raeneshadow,

AC works fine - but sometimes it doesn't come on (if that makes sense). The button lights up, but no cold air blows. At other times, it blows very cold. If it needed recharging, wouldn't it blow warm all the time? I'm thinking there's a short, lose wire, or the ac compressor clutch is slipping.....

No paint damage. Just the bumper is pushed in from the front on the passenger's side. headlight doesn't sit quite the same as the other one... That's why I think only $100.00 for repairs (maybe less).

Sorry, yeah, I thought you meant the AC was just warm... your prognosis sounds correct, doctor

I still don't quite get what you mean about the bumper. You mean the plastic part? If there's metal involved, even if the paint isn't damaged then chances are it's going to crack when you push it back out to shape. Unless you're lucky of course, but hey, that's what touchup paint's for, isn't it?

Ok, with regards to the bumper thing:

Look at drag II's avacon in the post above yours.

See how the left side of the picture is further away than the right one?

Well, that's how the front bumper (ONLY) looks. The hood, fenders, etc are fine - just the front bumper is ~1 inch closer to the car on the passenger's side. It pushes the plastic around the bumper in towards the wheel well area on that side only - and the headlight sits slightly awkwardly on that side. Not too noticeable, but I'm fanatic about my cars. I'll take it to a body/ frame shop and have them take a look at it this week sometime...
