Default Silverstar longevity?

Anyone have their silverstars blow within a couple months? I've had 2 go in the past 6 months... I know these are high beam bulbs but you'd think they are made with the same quality as the 9006 so they should technically last as long...this is crap!

4 months here... I suggest 9005 Cool Blues, those lasted me 1.5 years before one finally burned out (only 2 days before getting my HID's heh). At only $15-$20/pair for those bulbs, that's not a bad lifespan for running high beam bulbs as the low beams.

Even without any 9005 conversions, they are blowing within <1yr?

Seems like a short span for such expensive bulbs.

the blubs will last as long as ou do not touch the glass with your fingers. oils on your fingers will cause the bulb to blow. I always wwear latex gloves when messing with halogen bulbs.

Dumb question: Cool Blues, do they have that rice blue tint look or that clear HID knock off look..Do they make Cool Whites....ha ha
Where can you get these lights? Do you have to do a conversion like the 9005 or are they just plug and play?

WTF are you talking about. There is no damn blue in cool blues. They look white. Compared to my silverstars (which are also not blue), they look a little yellowish.

Cool Blues look white white compared to OEM bulbs.

They look dark yellow when compared to HID.

Ha ha.

So to net it out

HID..Best Color, Most $$$
Silverstar, Close to HID, 20 a bulb, only last 6-8 months, for most people
Cool Blues, Better than OEM, 12 a bulb, not as good as Silverstarr, lasted over 1yr, for most people....

So either roll the dice with the Silverstarr or settle for the Cool Blues.
So you still have to do the 9005 Conversion on the Cool Blues b/c stock socket
is a 9006? Is this correct?

Never touched the blub either. The filiment is what burns out on them, not the glass breaking. Touching the glass makes the oils from your fingers go into the glass. Mine lasted 6 months on one and 8 months on the other. I'll never buy Silverstars ever again.
