So I Put Some New Headlight Bulbs In The R Today
A friend of mine got some of those Sylvania Silverstar's and sold me on them right. Well I went up to Autozone today, and as luck would have it, they have dropped to 19.99 a piece...PLUS you get a 10$ mail in rebate. Not a bad deal I think considering how good the looked out on the road at night in my friends car. So I get home and pull out the old bulbs and this is what the passenger side bulb looked like.
What do you think could have caused that? I guess that would explain why that side always seemed a bit dimmer than the drivers side.

Nah, this is the first Ive messed with the headlights on this car. I'm real careful about not touching the bulbs. Ive seen first hand in the past what can happen from touching halogen bulbs and not cleaning them off.
you got oil from your hands or dirt from the back of the lamp housing on the bulb when you installed it. this oil eats away at the glass when the filament heats up.
next time be more careful or wear vinyl examination gloves.
BPR - who just put 2 sets of PIAA 9005s XTreme Whites on his Grand Cherokee

lol I guess you didnt read the post right.
Ive never touched those bulbs before pulling them out today. I touched the glass on a halogen bulb for a light in my house a few years back, and it just exploded after being on for a while. I didnt even come close to touching the bulbs on the silverstar's today, and I had gloves on.
I was just wondering if thats what could of caused the bubble to form on the old bulb. Cause Ive never seen anything like that

I've had the same bulbs for about two weeks now - there awesome - I like them better than my old PIAA's, and they cost less too.

did you pick up the 9006's? I looked at them on the advance autoparts website and wasn't sure which one's I needed exactly.. I assumed 9006S low beams?

Exact same thing happend to me. Stock bulbs, never touched them or pulled them out. Just seemed really dim so I pulled them to see what the problem was and saw that on both bulbs.
I've been hearing a lot about silverstar's lately, seems like a good bang for your buck bulb! Sure wish I woulda got these instead of my HID system
yep - I got em from pep boys - just look em up in that little electronic guide thingy...

Well, I put them in at about 1PM today and even in the daylight I can see a big difference just from looking at the car head on. I'll give a better review later tonight after some nighttime driving. They looked great from inside my friends car so I expect the same results.
Maybe the guys at the factory werent so careful putting them in I guess. That all I can think of.
Right. 9006's are the low beams.

They'll go out on you in 8-10 months like everybody else on this board. I had both go out and I didn't touch the bulbs. The filiments burn out on them. I'm back to stock for right now.
How old were they?
Did you do alot of night driving for a long period of time?
Maybee just a defect. Or maybee a jdm guy touched them back in jdm land when they put them in.
EDIT: I have had Silverstars in for about 5 months now. No problems yet. Knock on wood.

Bah! Go HID or go home

Just kidding bro, I think that the sylvania silverstars are probably the best halogen upgrade that you can do.

It's funny how you put the S2000 side-by-side to compare, but then only feature the R's beam on the garage door wall.
Perhaps because the cutoff on the R's lights suck since the "projectors" on the R are not designed for HID use?
The S2000's cutoff is much sharper.
I do not recommend using HID bulbs with stock R headlights. Too much glare as evident in the photo.

And the glare that you mention, they both seem to be blinding as ****, the S2K doesn't look any better.
