Car wouldn't start.. ignition fuse blown...??
Very odd thing happend last night. I started up the car.. started pulling back in reverse and the car almost stalled out.. then i let it rest for a sec.. tried pulling it back again and it stalled out this time. Tried to start her up again and nothing.. It was almost like the ignition was not responding. Head and dome lights worked.. but nothing else.. The radio did not respond.. and even the alarm would not lock or open the door.. I had to use the factory keyless to get it open.. I did a search on this site and saw that it could be my ignition.. checked the fuse in the enginebay and sure enough it was blown. I repaired the fuse but still would not start... Then i fiddled with some of the wires in the engine bay on the wiring harness said a few prayers and bam.. it started.. now I'm wondering what caused the ignition fuse to blow in the first place.. it must be something in the wiring harness.. am i going to have to just check every damn wire to see whats wrong??

Sounds like you found your source. Does your car have a swap? Check all the wiring and make sure nothing is exsposed that could ground out. If there are bare wires then that is probably why the fuse blew.

Yeah its got a swap.. and the wiring job on it is pretty whack... When you say are the wires exposed you mean bare wire or exposed with no tape or plastic insulate?
And why would the ignition fuse blow of all things becuase of this?
What I mean is bare as in the wire showing its core. If you have wiring that is not in any loom or something like that then there is a possibility that over time a wire rubbed through and grounded out somewhere. This would be my first step. Wiring problems are the worst. I know from experience because I've had five differents VW's and wiring in those cars seems to be an afterthough. Any problems I had with those cars was attributed to wiring.
The reason your main fuse would blow is becaused that is designed to protect your whole system. There was a kid I knew who tried to install some neon on his car and touched the ignition wire under the column to his column brace and blew his ignition fuse. It doesn't take much.

You definitely want to get a fuse in there. You are probably going to cause a problem elsewhere if you don't do it ASAP. There is nothing worse that melted wires fused together because of an overload. Good luck man. If there are any other questions IM me.
