Default Battery Charging Prob

Ok, so I've been having probs with my batt... the thing doesn't seem to wanna hold a charge. If i leave the car for 3 days it's dead. I can jump it and drive around and yes it does seem to charge enough to start... However if i leave the car idling for a while the thing dies... batt is drained... so I've found that my underdrive pulleys / alternator no longer put out enough power at idle however just over idle it's fine putting out ~14v.

Sooo... I decided to charge the thing... I have an automatic charger however when i do the 12A charge the thing starts at 25% then moves to FULL CHARGE... holds for a couple seconds and then flips back to 25% ... then FULL CHARGE... and the cycle repeats itself. After a couple hours of this the sweep only went down to 75%... then FULL CHARGE.. etc... still cycling though...

Any ideas? WTF, is this batt totally screwed?

Also, i thought batt's got warm during a charge... I left this for a few hours and it wasn't even warm at all... completely cold.

Any ideas? Appreciated thanks.

I don't think its the battery, but why don't you swap it just in case? My first step would be to switch the alternator pulley back to stock and check the alt. again.

Good Luck.

Well i realize there is a prob with the underdrive pulley at idle... But that doesn't explain why the charger was acting weird ... and the batt dies soo fast.

Most auto parts places will test your battery and alternator for FREE. Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.
