Hi People,

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I couldn't find anything in the archives. Has anyone actually done any kind of tests to gauge the effects of different octane fuels on performance or other areas? I'm looking for concrete results, not "it feels like it drives faster, etc." I keep hearing conflicting stories about this, so I wanted to see if anyone bothered to do some scientific measurements on this matter, in regard to Preludes. Thanks!

if you have an H22 use 91 or better otherwise your wasting money unless you advance the ignition timing to take advantage of the higher octane.

 

also if you use less on an H22 you'll loose power because the engine will cut back timing due to knock (or tends to)

 

Why would use anything less than premiuim anyway? Doesn't it say PREMIUM UNLEADED ONLY by your tach and speedometer?

 

i used 93 octane got about 25 mpg driving normal
i used 91 (i was low on cash need more gas) i got about 21 mpg same driving.

 

One more time-contact Sunoco Race Fuels-they do have test results.
