Default SERIAL numbered seats???

Ok well here is the deal. (long story short) I was at work one day and a couple of state patrol detectives confronted me out of nowhere, and said, "How about you tell us where you got your motor and GSR leather seats?" I was confused.... I had bought the hatch a year ago from a guy that owned a performance shop, and a month later I went in, and the guy said he had some GSR seats that would match my interior, so that day I bought them cash for 400. I never get receipts and I didn't really worry about it. Anyways, I told the cops that I have the stock D15b7 lame motor, and I explained that I bought the seats cash. They go on talking about how there are so many Tegs stolen all the time, and if I have stolen seats, I will be held responsible.. Now.. I really don't know if I actually bought these seats being stolen or not, and I still don't know if they ever were.. At the time I didn't ask, and thought nothing of it. Basically they assume I know some big thieves in the 'import industry' which I don't because I do my own thing, I buy legit or new stuff for my car. So IF these seats were in fact stolen, Is there serial numbers on them anywhere?.I really hope not, THEY ARE 95 INTEGRA GSR GREY SEATS. Please let me know if I am stressing for no reason, I have to find out, Thanks you guys.

hahaha. WASP? ********.

There aren't any damn numbers on seats unless the previous owner was psycho and engraved his VIN# on every part in his car.

What if you had an ITR stolen, they were doing a search on a car and found out he had your stolen ITR motor in his car. Would you still rather them not check?

Well first off they would not keep the vin on the motor so they can't find out where the motor came from. Second Like i said i would rather them pass by.

FYI seats do not have vin #s but might soon with so many hondas being thiefs targets nowdays...I reccomend getting reciepts from any shop you buy from even if it is a cash deal(just tell em to print it up and erase it in there records ) if they will not chances are there hot as my lady!

Sure they will take the vin plate off, however ever notice the numbers below the B18C5? That is a serial number. It is traceable to the car. so yes they can track down a stolen motor. Only reason you would want them to not stop people and check for stolen parts is if you had stolen parts yourself. Just something to think about.

If the serial number is grinded off or tampered with in any way, it is considered a stolen motor. No need to make it even more benificial for theives to steal motors.

Seems wierd that they would approach you at your workplace unless someone told that cops that you had stolen seats. What usually happens is, someone has a stolen motor in their car. The police then ask that person where they got the parts from, or who else would have stolen parts in their car. In return they are given a lesser charge for having the stolen parts. Seems like the only logical reason why the police would come to your work to check and see if you had stolen parts.

Also seats do not have any VIN number attached anywhere on them. Although perhaps they should.

Hell yea! Those cops rock. I would love to see cops like that all over town here. ****** thieves. They should do inspections once a week on all imports! Unless its a ITR of course.
