Car still won't start, I am out of ideas
Ok I replaced, the alternator, I received a free battery and I just bought a new starter. And my car still won't start. I goto click it and it won't even turn over nor try to. I checked all the grounds, and all the fuses and there ok. My dad jumped the car before and it did work. So I have no clue what else it could be, all my lights turn on, and everythin else works. I have no check engine light either. So what could it be.
Well I went out and had my Dad try to crank it over while I saw if I had any power going ot the starter. But I have this weird clicking sound coming from under my steering wheel. So my Dad pushed the clutch in and so I can hear the sound again, and it cranks. It took awhile to get it fired up but it finally did. The weird thing is, my clutch is not hooked up like that. Since my car was an automatice, I tricked the ecu into thinking the clutch is always depressed. Well this is weird. I can't beleive it started.
I know that the Civic HB and, I assume, the CRX had a recall on the igniter. If it never got fixed, the Honda dealer will fix it for free.

Man im having the same problems it wont start but if you sit there and i guess pump the clutch it will.
Well it can't be the main relay, because if it was the engine would atleast try to crank over. I was going to check for spark next but it decieded to fit itself or for the time being. If the ignition has been recalled, they fix it for free and you don't pay anything right ? And importfan85 you are talking about the ignition switch right ?

Any "wierd clicking noise" from under the steering wheel area suggests main relay to me. It was the same problem for my car anyway...
When it happened to me the only way to get the car to start up would be to turn the headlights on and off twice and then the car would start. Otherwise it would just click. Replaced the relay and never had a problem since.

my car won't start 101:
1. check for spark
2. check for fuel
if you have both, check compression, then see how screwed you are.

Well I just checked http://www.alldata.com , and the ignition coil has been recalled on hatchbacks, not the ignition switch. And it has not been recalled on the crx. And about the main relay, the car would atleast try to crank over. The car would not be getting fuel to it though.
I was going to do this after I tested to see if I was getting power to my starter.

My car just started doing this last night after the club.
It is the main relay. This might sound stupid. What you do
for now to get the car started is to
Put the clutch in and turn the key. With your hand hit around
where the fuse box is while trying to turn the car on. Try it. It works!

The main relay is left of the fust box, how do you know your not messing with the ignition switch. I thought if it was the main relay the car would atleast try to crank over. But maybe the battery part in the main relay is messed up. I read here
http://www.crxsi.com/resources/repai...lay/bottom.htm , and it seems pretty easy. I might do that. Anyone do that ever ? I did some searching on this site, and it still don't sound like my main relay is shot. I read alot that, if the main relay was bad, the car would atleast try to crank over.

To all aspiring mechanics out there, read the post first before you reply, or else you will look like your mod...hahaha. I'm just playing breaka, but if his engine could turn over in the first place, maybe than he could check for ignition, fuel, and compression. I'm going to go unplug my main relay right now, and see if it'll turn over.
Just as I thought, it still turns over. Your main relay just controls power to your fuel pump, nothing more. Good luck, at least that ruled out one possibility. Do the regulars, check grounds, check power to starter etc.
My car seems fine, but I know its probably not. But my question is, does the igntion switched get effected by the weather ?
Not sure if the igniter is the ignition switch, when I asked my mechanic all he said was "its the igniter". Yes, the honda dealer replaces it for free, bc there was a recall on it in '93 (i think that's when it was). Mine just died one day as I was pulling into a friends house. I tried to start it and it would turn over but not start. I gave it a couple of hours and then it started again, but later that night it died again. Hope this helps.
