People with 92 Si's that swapped the JDM H22 into it. I need your advice
Hey guys, I have a 92 Prelude Si and I am in the process of getting an H22 swap soon. Money is kinda tight but I was wondering what things I should upgrade when the motor gets here. I was thinking about the clutch, flywheel, and timing belt. I already have new clutch master and slave cylinders that are going in too. Is this a good idea?? Any other things I should upgrade??
I heard that upgrading the header is a good idea too. If it is a good idea to upgrade...why??
Also, I am getting an OEM 93 VTEC exhaust because my current one is toast. Will this fit my car fine with the new engine?? The guy is selling it for a GREAT price. I want to keep the sleeper look too. Will I need to upgrade the cat?? I head that the VTEC exhaust will be a little short. Is this true??
ANY help on my situation that you can provide is GREATLY appreciated.

While you have the engine out in the open and easily accessible, I would do the following.
T-Belt
Water Pump
******Balancer Shaft Seal Retainer******* this is the most important I will say why later
Engine Mount Inserts
Lightened Flywheel (optional)
New Clutch setup (I went with ACT)
Axles (if boots are bad)
So the reason you would want to do any of this stuff now is because it would be a lot harder with the engine and tranny already in the car. The lightened flywheel and clutch is a good thing to do now because you would have to pull the tranny out to get to it...and pulling a tranny with the engine in, is kind of a pain because the of the limited space.
The Balncer Shaft Seal is a known recall among H22A owners. They tend to just fall out. So they have a "retainer" (cost $10 at dealer) that holds the seal in. You just pull the T-Belt cover off, remove the bolt from the dipstick put the retainer in place and put the bolt back in...pretty simple.
You may want to take a few minutes and wash the engine bay out while it is accesible...just makes it look nicer.
Anyhow, I hope some of this helps.
