Default J1 trans ???

when i got my b16 it came with the J1 trans and a non stock clutch...the j1 trans if from the older integras right???

anyways the gearing is super short spaced...dont get me wrong its a blast with that gearing on the streets, but on the highway it sucks...at 70 in 5th im at 4k rpm. the 115 mph limiter sucks too....anyways...would it be possible to swap out the 5th gear (or final drive if its different) from a ls integra or something? would it help me out?

im only using premium fuel, and im get about 200 miles on 10 gallons and then fill her up b/c she dont start too good w/low fuel. is that abnormally gas guzzlin or ok?

if anyone w/a info or an actual gear or whole trans thatd like to swap let me know.

hahaha i feel ya man! i have the j1 when i first got my b16a i didnt like it. but afterwards, i got use to it, and i love it. its fast! but for reals, my gas mileage is getting crappy. i use 91 gas and i get about 200 miles which really sucked when i use to get 330 with my ZC. but get use to it! ull have fun with it. chip ur ecu so u can go past 115. its boring going 115. i know what u mean.

I wouldn't worry about it. The B16A is meant to have gearing this short. With its short stroke and long rod ratio, the B16A is quite happy running these kinds of revs for hours on end. So don't worry. You won't hurt your motor. I would not recommend an LS fifth for the simple reason that the B16A does not have enough torque to pull it well. You would have to downshift when trying to climb anything much taller than a cigarette butt.

If you think your J1 is short.....This year Im running a OBD1 B17 GSR with YS1 cable tranny. Now that's Short GEARED!!!

Quit cher complaining about gas mileage.....you dont hear all the soccer moms with big *** SUV and Northstar Caddys complaining about it.......hehehhe.

I've never owned anything bigger than 4.3 V-6. That was in my ole Chevy Astro Cargo Van. Now that is a gas guzzler with NO power!!!!!!!!!!!!!
