Default to those with skunk2 II cams in B16A2

Well, I know it is not the rigth forum, but I postet it yesterday in the EG, Civic Forum.....got no answers there.

We gona build an B16A2 EG6 Civic soon and want to give the Skunk2 stage2 cams a try. Full Skunk2 valvetrain with stage 2 cams and gears of course. We have already a Spoon ECU (know it does not match perfect) but we will install a Apexi VAFC too. Eagle rods is a must for revs up to 9200+ IMO. Also we have a 70mm TB installed.

We want to rise the cr up to 11.5:1 - 12:1 with milling the head or inserting higher cr pistons...don't know yet. Porting % polishing the head is also in the work.

I think 62mm exhaust is the way to go.

What do you think of this setup and what would you do on the exhaust setup...maybe 310cc injectors required and ITR intake manifold?

Those engine mods, good flowing exhaust, serious fuel tuning on the wide band O2 dyno.....hm, I think 200whp is possible..what do you guys think?

Give me some hints & tips on doing that, thanks!

I think..... those cams suck(no offense). My friends jdm r motor i/h/e test pipe, custom ecu, vafc, and hours on the dyno only made 187whp. The car really doesn't have that much low end either, but it does pull really good from about 7500 all the way up to 9300.

I really think stock b16 rods would be fine.

Hell, with a 1.8 you could make 200 on the stage 1s!

Yeah and most people seem to like the stage 1's better.

You can also make 200whp with R cams and high compression, so that doesn't really say anything special about the stage 2's except you have to rev the snot out of the motor.

Don't you basically have to rev the snot outta honda motors for power?

Yeah, but the difference is stock redline 8400 vs. 9000.

hm, so you think it is better for the money and engine safety to go with stage 1 cams?

Don't stage 2's prefer around 12:1 compression depending on cam tuning?

Guys.....just telling me do not go skunk2 stage 2 is just stupid, without an resonable "WHY" ........we will have an cr with about 12 - 12.5:1.

1 Low end sucks.
2 You can probably make as much with stage 1's and not have to rev it so high.
3 If you run stage 1's, you can use R valve springs and not have to use the Skunk2 valve springs.
4 Everyone that I have seen on here that has used both stage 1's and 2's seem to prefer the stage 1's.

If you are serious about getting 200whp out of a b16, go to clubsi and do a search for Omniman(he's supposedly built some 200whp b16's for Skunk2). Maybe you can find what you need over there.

1 I have the stage 2's and I have seen no problem with them.
2 I had CTR cams and only made 182, with the stage 2's I made 194.
3 The only thing I change is cams.
4 I have a B16 with 11.4 Cr and ported head and many more extras
Good luck it is possible

You made 194whp with a b16 with only 11.4:1? And you mean to tell me you're using b16 valve springs with a cam that has over 12mm of lift?

We give the stage 2 100% a try.

- compression ratio 12:1
- eagle rods
- skunk2 stage 2 cam gears
- skunk2 valve train
- skunk2 cam gears
- bigger injectors
- Spoon ECU
- Apexi VAFC
- full head polishing & porting job
- wide band O2 dyno tuning session

- not sure on the header and exhaust yet, but will run without cat

No I have ITR outers with port flow inners, I never said I had stock valve springs.
