We got it in at Carmax and I was wondering if someone from this board sold it to us. My friend is thinking about buying it and wants to know if there was something wrong with it/ and the reason why you sold it for so cheap.Its is a 2000 with 37k on it. It has AEM cold air intake, mugen header, and mugen exhaust. here are some pics....

 

Yup in VA we cant sell the Type R to normal customers with the header. Thats why Carmax is wholesaleing it. It goes to a dealer auction to the highest bidder. But because my friend and I work there we get first dibs on it. Plus we get it for the price that carmax bought it for.

Sorry about this being OT I am still a noob if a mod wants to move it or delete it that fine with me. I just thought I would post it here and see if the person who sold it would be here.

Doesn't Carmax do that 20 point inspection on the engine before they pruchase a car? If you guys don't know if there is something wrong with it how can we? From what we can tell it looks to be in good condition, but then again looks can be decieving.

BTW, how much did Carmax pay for it?

Sorry for the question but why cant you sell a car with a mugen header in VA. I live in PA and i never heard of such a thing.

yes you are correct about the sticker. but hell it comes off so who cares.
How do you VA people pass emissions and what not with some of your highly modified automobiles... just wondering.

That ITR was at the Carmax in Laurel Maryland a while back. I told them I have a great Stock header and Exhaust that they could have to use on that R for a quicker sale!

Yup $16k, I was going to buy it but I have to many cars already. so my friend is thinking about buying it. The only problem is that there is a whine coming from the engine. but George Knigton has already helped me out with that problem.


It is a wholesle vechicle (because of aftermarket parts) so carmax doesnt take it through the 125 point inspection. Plus i dont really trust carmax techs anyway.

more than likely the car was hit and the body shop put the new decal on the car in the wrong spot.
