Default scammed or no?

someone from another thread gave me a startling thought. well, of course i don't know jack **** about cars, but also that i don't know jack **** about car parts and their identification! i've asked 2 ppl already, and i'm getting more concerned by the minute...here's the low down.

supposedly i got a 98 jdm itr from a friend's friend. he included everything, [ecu, wire harness, axles, 96 spec tranny, linkage, mounts, etc,etc...]

here at the pictures...

the block is stamped "b18c" only. the tranny has the black stamp of j4d lsd, but i am so unsure now, that i am questioning if they welded and carved in a new block stamp! [it took them 4 months to get me my damn motor]. it performs okay i guess, i know it's faster than a b16a2. i'm a lil worried b/c i never bothered to take off the heat shield until now, and now it looks like cast iron. which is NOT jdm itr...i think.

4-2-1 header on 96 spec. (don't quote me on this one)

4-1 header on a 98 spec.

b18c is all you will see on any jdm motor.

next time you should do your homework prior to your purchases.

so there is no question as to whether it's a jdm itr or not...but i dunno, the "headers" seems like a stock b16 manifold, however the collector is 2.5"...wtf.

Dude. Check to see if the ECU and other various internals are P73. P72 are GSR. That will tell you more than anything if it's a JDM ITR. You should hear and feel VTEC at around 5500 - 6000rpm. No sooner.

Aside from that, and just because they gave you an ITR motor doesn't mean they gave you a complete ITR setup.

If I recall, you said you got a 98 spec motor, with a 96 Spec Tranny. That already shows that setup was pieced together, so if that's not an ITR header, it's no big deal.

yeah, vtec kicks in at 6 sharp. i know it's a r cuz i can go past 8 [the rush is the best!] and it pulls...like, pushes u back in the seat pulls. , someone told me the knobby looking screws RIGHT ABOVE the exhaust mani correspond to the year the motor was built, is this true? they look like this ( | ), { | ) ( | ) ( | ), there's 4 of them. someone told me the closest one to the tranny corresponds to the year. well, if that's true, mine is (0|0), or '00. but i dunno...and the reason i got a 96+ tranny is because i want to keep it a dd, maybe 4.785 later on...

well, how about you find out what year it is? look on the cyl head, above the #4 exhuast port. the year is stamped there. also, it is stamped b18c, correct?
