Default Hesitation getting worse, confused?

Hello group,
I have a built d16a6, and it seems that ever since i have had it, there has been a hesitation while going through 2k rpm with less than full throttle. Lately it has gotten worse in the cold temps. Sometimes choking from 2k thru 3k almost if the fuel curve goes to hell. All ign components r new and o2 is new. Wierd thing is that when o2 is disconnected the hesitation goes away leading me to beilieve that the problem is fuel leans out. Would a pm7 ecu from teg fix this prob. I have a reprogrammed pm6. Sorry for long message. Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks, Rick

I know this post is a little old, but no one replied. I'm having the same problem. Between 2k and 2.5k rpm, the engine sputters or hesitates. If I keep it above 2.5k rpm, it is fine. I have an 89 CRX Si w/ ZC and dx tranny, pg 7, and i/h/e and I ran a 15.5@87.83 so I'm pretty sure it's not hurting performance. I thought it was ignition-related, possibly ignitor. Any ideas?

I know this had to have happened to someone else. It's getting worse and I don't want to start throwing money at it.

I have this happen a few times for various reasons.

Easiest to repair was spark plugs... cleaned it right up.

Another time it was dirty distributor cap and rotor.

Again it was a loose spark plug wire that ended upi shorting through the boot and needed to be replaced.

And another time my ignitor was taking a dump.

All were ignition related.

Yeah I 99% positive it's ignition-related. I didn't think to look at the plugs, cap, or rotor. The cap, rotor, and plugs are fairly new. I may have fouled the plugs using the pg 7. The wires are MSD and they seem to be fine. I'll check them out. Thanks.

Might try checking the cam/crankshaft alignment, if you have not done so already...

I think I fixed it. It was a loose ignition wire. The timing is off by a tooth but I don't think it hurt any. I recently ran my car at the track and I had my best day ever.
15.5@87.83mph. My previous best was 16.0@86.7mph. Not bad for ZC w/ dx tranny and pg7.
