Financing HELP!........Anybody?
Hey fellas just wanted to see if any of ya could help me find somewhere that would finance a car that is to be purchased from a private party. I have a GREAT deal on a teg and I got approved from my credit union for the loan but the problem is that the car is in FL and Im in SC and the credit union wants the car and the persons name that is on the title to be in person to sign the paperwrk and pick up the check. If anybody knows of a institution or anywhere that could help me PLEASE let me know. I cant pass up this deal! Thanx!

Yea man I tried that. I told him that I would give him a lil extra money for his time and then Id take him back for free! But then he is a full time student, the car is under his dads name, and his da is a Dentist with his own clinic, so then I guess they wouldnt have the time.
damn Im running outta time.

Did you explain the situation to the Credit Union? That really sounds like a very limiting rule. There HAS to be a way to work around it. Talk to the CU and start working your way up the chain of command.
Yea I did explain to them but they want to have the vehicle present and the owner of it so they can sign the bill of sale and some other paperwrk in front of a Notary. They also mentioned that I would have to pay FL taxes on it cuz it was registered in FL. Here in SC I am tax exempt because of the military. THIS SUCKS!!!!!

I still think you should start talking to people's supervisors. It's hard to believe they've never done an out of state car sale.
Have you talked to your bank? Maybe if you talked to them, you could get an idea about how they would handle it. Then maybe you could convince the CU to do it that way.
Now that I think about it, I have a CU in New Jersey and I live in IL. I almost financed a car through them and they had no problem dealing with it by mail/FedEx. Like I said before, there HAS to be a way around it. You just have to find a smarter service rep.
