how do you know if you have a bad oil pump?
The only way to know for sure is to hook up an oil press gauge and rev the motor to a specific RPM and see if the pressure is correct.
Signs that the pump is bad or going bad could be an oil light that takes very long to turn off after you start the engine. Or an oil light that either blinks or stays on at idle, or any RPM for that matter.
Most often, it's a clogged oil pickup or screen that causes oil press problems.
