Bought a Prelude SR 2.1L. Uses 1 litre of oil every 1000km. Compression checks out good. No real smoke coming out the exhaust and no oil leakage. I was told these engines were teflon coated and used oil right from the factory. I also was told it is impossible to rebuild the engine because of the teflon coating.

Any advise.

 

they do that........ i have a couple of friends that each have, or have had 2.1L Si Preludes, they just consume a lot of oil......

Hey, i own the same car man, an SR 2.1 L. I have the same problem... its not compression or anything or oil leakage it just burns oil like a ****. Your best bet is do a swap like the other guy was talkin about. Its just the 3rd gen ludes. Thats how they are.

yea typical problem with the 2.1L my friend has a 91 Si does the exact same thing
