Nice site. I have to replace the alternator on my friends car this weekend (1990 accord 4 door 4cly)and was wondering if I am going to have to remove the axle to get it out. I tried searching but didnt really come up with anything for a accord just integra's and civics. She said she looked at it and thinks its on the top but is not really sure. Thanx.

No need to remove axle. Unplug connector. Unbolt the bolts, move belt out of the way and wiggle it out. THe tensioner bolts will need to be tightened in the right order when reinstalling it.

That sounds pretty easy. But don't forget to disconect the battery first.

you could always pull the engine, swap alternators, then reinstall engine?
or not.
If you follow those directions (not mine) its not too difficult.
