i had my handles shaved for over a year now, i also am going to school in laramie wyoming where its in the negatives very often, my solenoids pop my doors all day long no matter how could it is. Its just a big rumor that they dont work in cold. i have no problem with mine, i dont even have poppers to push the door open. I only have 15lbs solenoids with full leather door panels and all..
i did it all myself so i couldn't tell you how much it cost..
look at spending like 150-300 on the kit to open your doors if you want it all in a remote system otherwise you can just hide buttons on the car and buy solenoids for like 30-100$

i dunno about other states, but shaving handles is NOT street legal. one BIG IMPORTANT reason u can't shave ur handles, if u crash and ur unconscious, how the **** are we going to open the door and get u out?

Or what happens when your keychain remote runs out of batteries? Run to Radio Shack?

You should really keep a spare with you then! In UK, its only legal for both track and road if you've got someway to open the doors from the outside, such as solenoid buttons!

Same thing applies when you have an alarm and you can't turn off your alarm.

O.K. So what about the cars that automaticly lock the doors when in gear?
How ya going to get them out???
This is one of the main reasons that is IS legal in Utah now.

that's why u drive w/ unlocked doors. it's not like a thief is going to try to hijack ur car when ur flying down the track.

I got my handles shaved about a year ago. I did all the solenoid work, wiring, mounting. I took it to the body shop, and he shaved the handles and mouldings, as well as removingn a huuuuge dent (estimated by another body shop to cost almost 500 bucks)...

If my remote dies, I either a.) crawl in thru the trunk or b.) go to this one poitn on the outside, and apply 12v to terminals...poof, doors pop open.

hahahaha...that sounds funny. but seriously, u think thieves know where that position is too? wouldn't that make it easier to open then?

Ive shaved my handles too, but in reality it doesnt increase security. It just creates a hassle waiting to happen.
